The IT environment is complex and complicated for the outsiders, but fascinating for people that use it as their own language. It does not matter if you are in the distant islands of Micronesia or in the core of an European metropolis, we are all connected through the online world – thanks to the insightful and dedicated mind of IT professionals.
This week, Immigrant Spirit has interviewed Albrecht Arnold, Managing Director of Dytech IT Solutions GmbH.
Dytech is a niche IT company based in Willich, Germany, and it is providing safety for companies in different parts of the world. The passion and drive that motivate IT people to solve problems is part of the philosophy of Dytech.
Immigrant Spirit: Could you please give a brief description of what Dytech is?
Albrecht Arnold: Dytech is an IT solution provider for a lot of IT issues. We are a systems house, providing managing services for our clients. We have support contracts, we have two data centers in Dusseldorf, we offer our customers software services, and monitoring services for their IT environment in a cloud environment and have three different specializations:
The first one is virtualization of IT environment, for server and for client environment.
The second part is monitoring. We are working at a Football Stadium, which has a wide IT environment, and we are operating a new system for its turnstiles. There are maybe a hundred turnstiles that we constantly monitor – among many other tasks. It is a huge monitoring environment, with more than a thousand devices operating more than 30,000 tasks per minute.
The last part is network and IT security. We are applying these services to Hospitals and Soccer Stadions, among others.
Immigrant Spirit: With the rising concerns after episodes of international espionage, I guess that the demand for your services has risen.
Albrecht Arnold: We can solve situations from small and large companies when someone tries to steal information or spy the network, getting data from that company. We are ready to solve problems like this, as the IT environment is getting bigger and bigger and the need for IT security is also rising.
While you read on the press about security problems, we are able to make a firm more secure.
Immigrant Spirit: What kind of attitude are you looking for in employees?
Albrecht Arnold: We are really flexible. I don’t want the company to become a specialist to just one problem. I have the philosophy of having always more than one perspective in Dytech. When hiring a person, we don’t want someone that says ‘I only use this program. I don’t want to use any other program.’ We are offering an environment where people can work with more than one system, and all of my employees have the freedom to continuously improve and understand technical problems.
When a customer calls us, we expect people to be able to answer their questions and understand their needs.
Also, we always try to be very near our customers. While some of their other providers, especially large firms, are not very flexible, we work together with the customer to find solutions to what they need. We are always by their side.
We have a team in New Zealand that can support our customers during the night. We are always here for them, and I can go visit them anytime they need.
Immigrant Spirit: How would you describe the work environment at Dytech?
Albrecht Arnold: We are really flexible. I don’t want the company to become a specialist to just one problem. I have the philosophy of having always more than one perspective in Dytech. When hiring a person, we don’t want someone that says ‘I only use this product. I don’t want to use any other product.’ We are offering an environment where people can work with more than one solution, and all of my employees have the freedom to continuously improve and understand technical problems.

Immigrant Spirit: How would you describe the work environment at Dytech?
Albrecht Arnold: I think our employees love their job because of the spirit at work. One example: If one of our customers has a problem on a Sunday evening – our people will volunteer to solve it. The feeling of satisfaction that you get from solving the problem is above everything else.
Immigrant Spirit: What would you say is the ideal profile of professionals to work for Dytech?
Albrecht Arnold: I am seeking for people that don’t only want to work for the paycheck, but that have the passion to make the difference. I don’t want people that do know everything, but those who want to know everything.
Immigrant Spirit: Where would you like Dytech to be, five years from now?
Albrecht Arnold: First, I expect that we would have doubled our size. We are always seeking for the best people to work for us, people that are good, competent and that love this job.
If you work in IT, it is like sawing the branch on which you are sitting: We have for which we were working 20 hours per month. We noticed their IT environment needed some improvements, which we suggested to the customer. In our mentality, if you do a good job, you need to give the best advice to your customers. We improved their environment and now they only need 3-4 hours of work per months from us.
Of course, that means we do not have the same demand from them. On the other hand, we are offering the best service for them.
We want to make our customers happy. The IT environment is getting more and more complex. If you solve the main problems, though, we make it easier for the administration and companies to understand it.
Immigrant Spirit: How could the ideal candidate help you accomplish your goals?
Albrecht Arnold: I think that innovation is the key. Giving new ideas and new technical solutions would support us making our customers happy. There is always space in our company for new ideas and support.
The second quality an ideal candidate should have: He should be a specialist in one system, but would also have wide knowledge in other systems.
We are currently seeking for one person for the network security area, as the demand for this kind of service has been very high.
We have new projects being introduced to our customers, demanding network solutions, and for these new projects to come we will need more people working for Dytech.
