232 million people don’t live in the country where they where born. The UN released a “top ten” list of the most popular immigration countries. This ten countries give a home to half of all the immigrants in the world. Would you have guessed?

No. 9. Australia with 7.3 million immigrants
No 8. Canada with 7.3 million immigrants
No 7. France with 7.4 million immigrants
No 6. United Kingdom with 7.8 million immigrants
No 5. United Arab Emirates with 7.8 million immigrants
No 4 Saudi Arabia with 9.1 million immigrants
No 3 Germany with 9.8 million immmigrants
No 2 Russia with 11.0 million immigrants
No 1 USA with 45.8 million immigrants
Immigration fact: Germany is home for a little over 1% of the world population. The fact that so many immigrants move to Germany used to be seen as a burden – now it turns out to be a blessing. Thanks to the small numbers of children per woman in Germany we now need up to 6.5 million skilled immigrants until 2025.
